Hello book-nerds! How are you?
I'm finally free of my exams ~ dead ~ and I'm trying to write as many reviews as possible for you! I've read so many good books this year, I cannot wait to tell you all about them!

To me, honestly, this book was a little confusing. We’re jumping from character to character and that created a barrier between me and the characters. If you’ve been following my reviews for a little while, you know I don’t normally like jumping-between-characters books and this one was not an exception.

However, the chapter are structured in a way that you can’t help it but to be curious, making it impossible for the reader to put the book down. There’s so many questions, that even confused, I wanted to keep reading, trying to find the answers to all my questions – spoiler alert: I did not.

The Power brings an unusual story, built on the idea of a world where women have the power to hurt man, creating a society which is kind of the opposite of ours; where some man believe they have certain liberties. Definitely my favourite part of the book, seeing how this society evolved and comparing it to our own.

After the end of the story, we are given a series of letters where we find out *spoilers* that in a move not to influence the impact of a book that approaches such a controversial thematic, the author altered is own name. How? Read the book to find out!

Even though it was not a good read for me, I think it’s one of those books people should read because it will raise awareness to some issues in our society.

Para mim esta leitura foi bastante confusa, as inúmeras personagens e saltos entre pontos de vista não me deixaram apegar a ninguém em particular, dificultando ainda mais a leitura.

Contudo, os capítulos têm sempre eventos interessantes a acontecer, criando uma atmosfera de curiosidade que não nos deixa pousar o livro até termos as respostas a todas as nossas perguntas, embora, para vos ser sincera, no final ainda fiquei com bastantes questões.

O Poder apresenta-nos uma história invulgar, construída sobre a ideia do que seria a nossa história e a nossa sociedade se as mulheres tivessem o poder de magoar qualquer homem, concedendo-lhes liberdades que no nosso mundo muitos homens acham que têm. Esta foi a minha parte favorita do livro, sem dúvida, ver a forma como a história desta sociedade progrediu e compara-la com a nossa.

No final do livro existem uma data de cartas, correspondência entre o autor e uma colega, onde foi interessante descobrir que *spoiler* de forma a não influenciar o impacto deste livro com uma temática tão controversa no público, o nome do autor foi alterado. Como? Peguem no livro para descobrir!

A edição da saída de emergência está também muito bem feita, apesar de ter achado a narrativa confusa, a tradução está muito bem feita, assim como a edição da capa (brilha!) e a utilização dos desenhos espalhados pelo livro.

De uma forma geral, acho que é uma boa aposta da Saída de Emergência, porque é um livro que levanta questões que há muito já deviam ter sido respondidas. Apesar de não ser uma história para mim, se puderem, dem-lhe uma vista de olhos.
