Review: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

em sábado, 14 de janeiro de 2017 |
This book has so many different covers!! Better to say: so many variants of the same cover that I don't even know which one to choose!
I'm not joking! Besides this two, we have to more variants in green.

Way to many right?
I'm naming Fangirl: The book of many covers

Mine is the pink one (even though I don't like pink) my ever favourite family was kind and gave me the collectors edition on Christmas and the pink one was the only one available on the website where we usually buy our books (Bookdepository).
But I actually think the pink version is the cutest and this story is so cute that it deserves a cute cover.

Don't you think?

But lets go down to business, shall we?

Synopsis:

A coming-of-age tale of fan fiction, family and first love.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan...

But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words... And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.
For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?
Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?
And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

About the author:
Rainbow Rowell writes books. Sometimes she writes about adults (ATTACHMENTS and LANDLINE). Sometimes she writes about teenagers (ELEANOR & PARK and FANGIRL). But she always writes about people who talk a lot. And people who feel like they're screwing up. And people who fall in love.
When she's not writing, Rainbow is reading comic books, planning Disney World trips and arguing about things that don't really matter in the big scheme of things.
She lives in Nebraska with her husband and two sons.

Review:

So....
The end.

''I don’t trust anybody. Not anybody. And the more that I care about someone, the more sure I am they’re going to get tired of me and take off.''
I don't know what to say honestly. This is the second book from Rainbow Rowell I'm reading. The first was Eleanor and Park.

I think I liked EP better than Fangirl, I also hated the ending better than Fangirl.

Does that even make sense?
“I’m not really a book person.”“That might be the most idiotic thing you’ve ever said to me”

Okay! The book!
Fangirl starts really slowly, I actually quit reading it one time, but I was so bored that I thought I'd give it another chance. Thank the Gods.
This book is amazing as a Fangirl myself AND a writer I relate to this character in almost every thing she goes through (except the boyfriend I need a Levi in my life). And it's amazing to feel so connect to a character, especially since I'm now in my first year in college.

“Underneath this veneer of slightly crazy and mildly socially retarded, I'm a complete disaster.”
Overall the book is amazing... The character development is...wow.
I love it.
Loved almost everything.
But although I really liked that Rainbow Rowell gave us the fic Cath was writing I must admit it came at the most unfortunate times... That for a few times I hated it.
The writing and pace of the book got better through out the story but I think sometimes it just...I don't how to explain it...things just got unsaid and then other were said to much.

“I feel sorry for you, and I'm going to be your friend.''
''I don't want to be your friend," Cath said as sternly as she could. "I like that we're not friends."
"Me, too. I'm sorry you ruined it by being so pathetic.”
I'm now left with a feeling of unease and solitude. I don't know how to keep living my life without Cath, Levi, Reagan, Wren and all the other characters. I'll miss them dearly and I'll surely come back to this world just to see Levi's smiles, Cath being Cath, Reagan being awesome and Wren getting her redemption

Rating: 4.5/5
