Hello book nerds! How are you today?

Today, I'm finally going back to the world of Jackaby, the brilliant detective with an eyes for the supernatural.

Synopsis:

In 1892, New Fiddleham, New England, things are never quite what they seem, especially when Abigail Rook and her eccentric employer, R. F. Jackaby, are called upon to investigate the supernatural. First, members of a particularly vicious species of shape-shifters disguise themselves as a litter of kittens.
A day later, their owner is found murdered, with a single mysterious puncture wound to her neck.

Then, in nearby Gad's Valley, dinosaur bones from a recent dig go missing, and an unidentifiable beast attacks animals and people, leaving their mangled bodies behind. Policeman Charlie Cane, exiled from New Fiddleham to the valley, calls on Abigail for help, and soon Abigail and Jackaby are on the hunt for a thief, a monster, and a murderer.

As always this is a book that keeps you in the edge of your sit. There’s always something happen and you have to be very carefully when you’re reading to get the clues right.

Review:
I honestly love this book, it’s like seeing Sherlock but with the added bonus of having fantastic creatures.

In Beastly Bones the reader gets to connect more to our narrator, Abigail Rook, which, had been living a little in the side-lines of Jackaby’s story and now steps into the light.

We already knew she was a quick thinker with an adventurous heart. However, now we get to see the more human part of her. The side that cares and loves, not only people – like Charlie and Jackaby – but planetology

Ohhh seeing this girl in action was amazing. Seeing her hand that annoying professor his ass… fantastic.

It was nice to see step to the spotlight, after spending the first book a little in the shadows. Even tough, the shift between I want to be the person that falls in love and I am independent enough to not need someone, was a bit annoying, it did help the character move one, to truly become someone more confident.

I really liked the creativity with which the magical creatures of this book where created. As a huge fantasy fan, it’s hard to find something with different creatures that I haven’t seen but these ones were so good, so creative. I don’t want to spoil what the creature is, but it is related with cats and fishes and mass extinctions.

Curious?

It gets better! Remember Charlie, the sweet from the first book? We get to know a lot more about him in this book.

A very nice sequel to the fantastic book that was Jackaby, with just enough action, romance and mystery to keep the reader on their feet throughout the entirety of the book.
