August Wrap-Up + Book of the Month

em sexta-feira, 1 de setembro de 2017 |
Hey guys!
How are you?
This month was INSANE! I got to read so much and still have so much to read! And I wrote like crazy ~ Broken fans I'm trying! ~ and even managed to have time do finish the first season of Daredevil.
I just don't think I got enough sleep. But never mind that, I'll sleep when I'm dead.

I started off this month with the Portuguese book The Threat of an Angel by Patricia Ferreira.
And oh man, if there's ever been a book hard to criticize.

It's not that I found the book bad, more like it needed a lot of refinement.
If Patricia ever gets the opportunity to republish this book and change somethings, like the excessive descriptions of clothes and events on various points of view (I like different points of view but sometimes you'll see one action in different sets of eyes and that gets boring fast) this book will be a 5 stars one.

No matter on how many things I think this book has that could have been great and wasn't, one thing is for sure: Ethan and Elena and Jason and the others, do live a mark in your heart. And I know miss those character.

For those wondering, this is a  Portuguese fantasy/YA and you can get your copy >> Here <<

I gave this book 3,5 stars

My second book of the month was Point of no Return by Gabriela Simões (one of the blogs partnerships). And although this book was given to me by the author I didn't like it and even though it pained me I had to give my honest opinion.

The main obstacle in this book is time. Either things are too slow and you want to gauge your eyes balls out or they are too fast and you need three extra pairs of eyes and two more brains to keep up.

Other than that every thing is a bit subjective.
I usually don't like books in which I clash (aka hate/fiercely dislike) the main character and that's what happened in this book. [popular example time: Fallen. I HATE LUCINDA PRICE. I HATE HER! HATE, HATE, HATE, HER. So I read the books for Daniel and only because of the double points of view and the fact that I bought the entire collection .-.)
I'm sorry Gabriela - I know it's horrible when people say bad things about your girl. I want to punch people that don't understand Alexia - but I fiercely dislike Giselle. She's annoying and kind of bratty even though she doesn't have much and every time she opens her mouth I feel like squeezing the life out of her.

If you get along with Giselle - which I did not - you will enjoy the book, might even love it.
You will have to give it a try! This is a fantasy/YA book!

I gave this book 2,5 stars

The two next books I still haven't made my review so I won't tell you what I think about them just yet, okay?

Synopsis:

Brant:
Became a tech billionaire by his twentieth birthday. Has been in a relationship with me for 3 years.
Has proposed 4 times. Been rejected 4 times.

Lee:
Cuts grass when he’s not banging housewives. Good with his hands, his mouth, and his cock. Has been pursued relentlessly by me for almost 2 years, whether he knows it or not.

Go ahead. Judge me. You have no idea what my love entails.

If you think you’ve heard this story before, trust me – you haven’t.

I mainly read this book because everyone was acting shocked about something and my curiosity took the best of me. GODS WHAT?!

31327668Synopsis:

Hunted, shot, and without her memory, eighteen-year-old Ann Baker wakes in shallow water on a deserted Pacific Northwest island. She is soon approached by two young men claiming to be her friends. Something isn’t right, but when gunshots sound, Ann is left with little choice but to allow Devon and Archer to help her escape. Soon she finds herself in their North Bend mountain compound, where the higher evolved humans claim to be mind-readers. While Ann heals, she realizes they believe her to be one of the last and most powerful of all – The Lost One.

She’s welcomed by most with opened arms, but not everyone is happy about her arrival. A jealous adversary has plans for Ann, which spirals the entire Reader community into chaos.

As lies, murder, and betrayal threaten to rip apart the once harmonious mountain dwellers, Ann is thrust into making a decision that could save or devastate not only The Readers, but all of mankind. But there’s just one glitch: by doing so it may require her to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Got this book from Netgalley forever ago and decided to start it has my 'read buddy on the gym''

This book!

ARGGG

I loved this book until the author decided we were to be forced into unexplained relationships.

I loved the two main characters and I loved how it seemed to be a retelling while being really different from the Cinderella story we are used two.

It's overall a really nice afternoon read for those who like tales of love and loss, of magic and science. A very nice read and a good goodbye from the times we got to work with Curiosity Quills.

This is a historical/romance with a twitch of fantasy book :) Also suitable for YA!

I then went to read YA/Fantasy once again with the second volume of The Reluctant Warrior Saga, provided by L2L2 one of our partners!

I adored the first chapter of this adventure, Rebirth was one of my favourite reads from the beginning of the year!
Not only was it packed with romance, adventure and mystery but also was capable of enjoying a book filled with religion (again, nothing against ANY religion).

I loved the new characters that were introduced and I'm dying to have them being more explored.

Nathan is my new bae <3

The only thing upsetting is the wheel of guilt and rage in this book, coming from EVERY character. But still, a very good afternoon read for those who love adventure and fights and angels.

THE ANGELS!!! SIDRIEL <3 span="">

I gave this book 4 stars

And to finish this month I read ~ drum rolls please ~
Another book from Chiado Editora! This one from a really young and promising author!
Check my thoughts on ''The Game'' >> here <<

The biggest problem with this book it's his size. And that's why I didn't LOVE it.

It's only 74 pages long, for a distopiyan novel, what is that? Almost only the introduction to the world.

But Mariana's writing is amazing, compelling and well-paced absorbing you into her world within the first few pages.

There's some very fundamental things wrong with this book, not only related to its size, that make the bubble of awe break a little.

Overall very good, an amazing starting point for the author!!

I gave this book 3 stars

That's it guys!
Even if the beginning of the month wasn't all that promising it ended pretty well. And I can't way to discuss with you your thoughts on the books above!
Have you read any? Do you intend on reading any?
Before I go, I just want to let you know, I'll be doing a ''Book of the Month'' on the sidebar >>>>
